Archive of Market and Social Research (AMSR)

June 25 2020

Jane FrostMarket Research Society (MRS) CEO Jane Frost has been named Vice Chairman of the Archive of Market and Social Research (AMSR).

Launched in 2016, and supported by the MRS, the Association of Qualitative Researchers (AQR), and the Social Research Association (SRA), the AMSR aim is to catalogue and preserve resources tracing the development of the market and social research industry from the 1930s to the present day - with records such as significant studies, technical developments, survey results, biographical details, and published papers, journals, books and newsletters. It currently collects records, both physical and digital, all of which need to be assessed and collated, and this data is housed by The History of Advertising Trust, which will make the archive available to the public.

Frost joined the MRS in 2011, having spent the previous five years at HM Revenue & Customs, where she developed and led the individual customer function and the Behavioural Evidence and Insight unit. Before this she held senior roles in both public and private sector organisations including Shell, Unilever, the Department of Constitutional Affairs and the BBC. She says of the AMSR that not only is the archive an essential resource for social historians, there is much to be learned from it for current market and social research practitioners, brand strategists and modern policy makers.

Commenting on Frost's appointment, AMSR Chairman Patrick Barwise, Emeritus Professor of Management and Marketing at London Business School, said: 'It's wonderful to have Jane, who has been an avid supporter of the archive since its inception, now on the Board of Trustees. With her 30+years board-level experience in marketing and strategy in both the private and public sectors, as well as her recent transformative role at the MRS, and with her strong connections within UK market research, Jane will be a terrific addition to our Board as we develop and disseminate the archive'.
