Marissa NelsonUS-based strategy and custom research company Magid has hired Marissa Nelson as Senior Consultant, Local Media. She will join on July 13th.

The company, which was founded by television 'news doctor' Frank N. Magid in 1957, studies how behavior is affected by content and advertising across traditional and new media platforms. Nelson (pictured) will join after nearly a decade at Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), where she most recently served as Senior MD for CBC, Local, responsible for overseeing all TV, radio, and digital operations for eight local stations. Before this, she led all digital news efforts across the network. Earlier in her career she held leadership roles in other television, radio, digital and newspaper organizations.

Commenting on the appointment, EVP Head of Local Media Jaime Spencer says: 'Marissa has dedicated her career to helping media companies re-imagine themselves for the digital age with a great track record of success. I've had the pleasure of seeing it first-hand. Her combination of skills and experience across platforms is quite rare, and we couldn't be happier for Marissa to bring this insight to bear for our clients'.
