Tom IlubeIn the UK marcoms giant WPP has appointed tech entrepreneur Tom Ilube as a Non-Executive Director (NED) on its Board.

Ilube (pictured) is the founder and CEO of AIM-listed Crossword Cybersecurity, a technology commercialisation company focused on the cybersecurity sector; and he previously founded several other technology firms. He began his career as a Systems Designer at the London Stock Exchange, before joining Goldman Sachs and then moving to PwC. Later, he founded software business Lost Wax, then worked at Egg Banking as Chief Information Officer, set up digital identity specialist Garlik, and served as MD, Consumer Markets at private equity-backed UK credit reference agency Callcredit Information Group.

He is currently a NED of the BBC, where he serves on the audit and risk committee, chairs both the fair trading committee and diversity and inclusion advisory group. He also recently supported the appointment process for the new Director General. In addition, he previously chaired the UK Government Technology Strategy Board's Network Security Innovation panel, and was a member of the High-Level Expert Group on Cyber Security at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a Geneva-based UN agency. As Non-Executive Director of WPP, Ilube will receive standard annual fees of £85k per annum.
