In the US, behavior driven customer experience company Harte Hanks has appointed Joyce Karel as its first Chief Commercial Officer. She will be based at the firm's Philadelphia headquarters.

Harte Hanks advises clients on the collection and use of customer data, including database building and management, analytics, digital marketing and customer contact, client fulfilment, and marketing and product logistics. Karel (pictured) joins after leadership positions at marketing agencies including Digitas, MRM//McCann, Ogilvy & Mather and Wunderman, as well as client-side work at Whirlpool Corporation.

In the newly created role, Karel will be responsible for leading the company's Marketing Services business, as well as managing clients, sales and marketing, and services across the enterprise. She reports directly to Andrew Benett, Executive Chairman and CEO, who comments: 'Joyce is a dynamic leader who has proven experience leading successful multi-faceted teams. She has the unique understanding and expertise needed to drive results in today's highly-personalized, customer-driven economy'.
