Fernando WeyAI-based insights platform Birdie has appointed Fernando Wey as Chief Marketing Officer.

Headquartered in the US and founded in 2018 by Alexandre Hadade and Patrícia Osorio, Birdie uses artificial intelligence and natural language processing to help CPG organizations analyse and understand unstructured data from millions of consumers' comments, reviews and other online conversation. Last year, the company raised $1.6m in a seed funding round, which it is using for US expansion of its sales and marketing teams, and to accelerate the development of new features relating to its integration with other data sources.

Wey (pictured) joins with more than twenty years' experience in marketing and business management roles in the consumer goods, telecoms, technology and services sectors. Most recently, he was the Global VP of Marketing at home devices and appliances designer and distributor SharkNinja, responsible for global marketing strategy, brand positioning, communications, product and innovation roadmaps, pricing, promotion, and managing P&L. Earlier he held several marketing leadership roles at home appliances manufacturer Whirlpool Corporation, responsible for multiple US and Latin America categories.

Commenting on the appointment, Osorio said: 'With more than ten years working for some of the most important consumer electronics brands in the market, Fernando is a great addition to our team. His perspective and experience working on the clients' side will help us become even more successful at generating relevant business insights to our customers'.
