Omniture Adds Consulting to Social Media Measurement

US-based web analytics firm Omniture has launched a solution that combines the social media measurement and analytics of its SiteCatalyst platform, with the best practices of its consulting services division.

SiteCatalyst offers a brand awareness measure of social networking sites and news aggregation services. It can identify a spike on Twitter or Facebook activity around a brand, as well as uncover the potential impact on conversion rates visitors have when arriving from a Facebook or iPhone application.

In addition it can aggregate ratings as well as positive or negative comments left by consumers watching a video on YouTube and other video sharing sites.

The firm's newly launched Social Media Optimization Solution combines this tool with the resources of Omniture's Consulting Services team of more than 200 consultants worldwide.

'Online marketers have been struggling to gather data across the breadth of social media channels and connect the dots between social media investments, marketing campaigns and business results,' explained CTO and EVP of Products Brett Error. 'Our new solution is a more comprehensive means to help customers overcome these barriers.'

Omniture, which is currently in the process of being acquired by graphic design software giant Adobe for around $1.8 billion, recently measured what it says is the first retail transaction ever to take place in Facebook.
