Mobile Analyst Flurry Raises Another $7m

January 13 2010

In the US, mobile application analytics firm Flurry has closed a $7m third round of financing, which it says it will use to 'aggressively' build out new services that increase app developer revenue, hire new employees and scale its infrastructure.

Simon KhalafFlurry, which recently merged with rival Pinch Media, tracks more than one billion end-user sessions per month on applications installed across 50 million unique iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices.

Through this latest round of funding, the firm will roll out its Flurry AppCircle service, which uses data to target consumers intelligently and increase sales in the App store. The firm says its new tool, which is now in private beta, is designed to help developers acquire the most valuable users 'faster and for less money'.

'Smartphone application download growth is skyrocketing like nothing in recent consumer tech history, dwarfing even early Internet adoption,' states CEO Simon Khalaf. 'With its significant reach, Flurry is positioned to play a significant role in leveraging the measurement of consumer behavior to accelerate the sale of apps and virtual goods.'

The investment has been led by venture capital firm InterWest Partners, with support from existing investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital and Draper Richards. As part of the deal, InterWest's General Partner Doug Pepper joins the Flurry Board of Directors.
