LinkedIn 'Shelves' B2B Research Sample

March 26 2010

Global business networking site LinkedIn has ceased offering sample from its members for use in B2B market research, according to a report on the blog of Anderson Analytics' Managing Partner, Tom Anderson.

LinkedIn - stopping b2b sample optionLinkedIn first offered access to its B2B survey sample in October 2008, as part of its LinkedIn Research Network service, with the idea of helping market researchers and professional investors conduct research among its database of more than 60 million members worldwide.

Initial stats from Anderson Analytics showed that 68% of LinkedIn members had never previously been part of a research panel, 18% had been on a panel but had left, and 14% were currently members of a panel. Data highlighted that lapsed panel members were 'significantly' more likely to have higher salaries and more senior positions in their companies.

Dan Shapero, LinkedIn's Senior Director of Enterprise Solutions, told Anderson that while research continues to be a 'strategic focus' for the firm, it had decided to refocus its research efforts by deploying research products that will help it build larger relationships with its HR and ad clients.

'We are no longer making our sample generally available,' Shapero added.
