Nielsen Online's UK MD Steps Down in Restructure

May 28 2010

Nielsen Online's UK Managing Director Stephen Brooks has left, as part of a company restructure.

Commenting on his departure, a Nielsen spokesperson told DRNO: 'We are going through a re-organisation and will be making an announcement in the near future. Until then we're not making any comment about this or any individuals involved.'

At this stage, it is unknown whether any other senior executives will leave as part of the restructure.

Since joining Nielsen in 2008, Brooks has overseen the launch of the UKOM (UK Online Measurement Company) Audience Planning System (APS), developed to establish the country's first web measurement currency.

During the pitch, Nielsen saw off competition from Gemius/Ipsos, GfK and comScore, since when it has defended its use of a panel-based methodology as opposed to comScore's proposal for a 'person-centric' approach using a hybrid technique employing cookie deletion.

Brooks joined Nielsen from EMAP Communications in 2008, where he had been Digital Director for Magazines. Prior to this, he spent seven years as the publisher in charge of Centaur Media's mad.co.uk marketing portal, which he launched in 1999.
