Funds for BuzzLogic, Photizo and Workstreamer

Dollars continue to chase firms launching software to measure social media and facilitate advertising on it, while MR firms in growing sectors are also targets for investment.

Data-driven blog ad network BuzzLogic has announced an $8.8m round of venture funding, led by Adams Capital Management, and says it will roll out a new custom ad unit geared to driving social media engagement around a brand or promotion.

The new funds, which bring the total raised to more than $20m, will be used to expand the San Francisco-based company's sales force and invest in new product development under its newly hired CTO, former Omnicom Media exec John Donahue. VP of Sales Peter O'Sullivan says the firm's targeting technology is what sets it apart from competitors: the performance of its 'BuzzRoll' campaigns can be tracked via the company's analytics dashboard to optimise return on spend and effort.

Meanwhile in Kentucky, investor Meritus Ventures has earmarked an unspecified amount for consulting and research firm Photizo Group, Inc., which provides market information and services to vendors, dealers, and end user communities in the managed print services market.

Ray Moncrief of Meritus takes a seat on the board of directors of Photizo, which has grown revenue by more than 50% per annum since 2006 and doubled revenue from 2008 to 2009. Web site: www.mpsinsights.com .


In Texas, Austin Ventures has invested $3.5m in Series A funding in Workstreamer, which bills itself as a 'business listening platform company'. The money will fund user growth, sales generation and expansion to meet demand.
