Anderson to Launch Text Analytics Tool

In the US, market research and data mining consultancy Anderson Analytics is to roll out a new text analytics software platform next year, designed specifically for use by market researchers and intended for both survey and social media data.

Tom AndersonFull service agency Anderson Analytics was founded by Tom Anderson in 2005, to fuse advanced analytics and traditional methodologies with technologies such as data and text mining. The agency was one of the first to apply natural language processing (NLP) techniques for ad hoc consumer research.

His firm's new solution - which is currently in beta test and known as 'OdinText' - is expected to be offered as an SaaS model by summer 2011. It has been developed in response to the firm's own research with a number of market research directors who believe that existing text analytics software isn't developed with their needs in mind, with many saying they are underwhelmed by the existing tools available in the marketplace.

According to Anderson, the tool is likely to be available as both a stand-alone and DIY option 'OdinText Lite'. Once fully launched, the firm also intends to create market-specific versions dependent on its intended use.

Anderson hit the headlines in July when ESOMAR revoked his status as its US representative, following his public criticisms of the introduction of ISO quality standards to the US.
