Hitwise Research Director Joins Online 1984

In Australia, Experian Hitwise's former Asia Pacific Research Director Alan Long has joined Online 1984 - the social media measurement division of The Online Circle - as General Manager.

The Online Circle is a social media agency which specialises in monitoring, analysis, strategy and campaign management. Online 1984 analyses and prioritises data to help clients manage their reputation, conduct market research and competitive analysis, and understand customers' needs and emotions. Its team of analysts review and prioritise all data sourced against a proprietary scoring system that then provides a visual graph of specific market sentiment, highlighting insights.

In his new role, Long is responsible for the expansion of Online 1984, where he will oversee sales, marketing and product development.

He joins from online audience measurement firm Experian Hitwise in Melbourne, Australia, where since 2008 he has led a team of analysts covering 160+ industries on more than one million web sites. In this role, Long analysed and interpreted industry specific data and trends, and shared this insight and research with clients to help them better understand online consumer behaviour.

Prior to this, he worked at online media agency Sensis Digital Media (formerly Sensis MediaSmart) as State Director for Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. Earlier he served as Director at Frontier Media Active, and managed the Olympics.com program when he worked at BMCMedia.com.
