Sinotrust Adds Voice Recognition to Customer Sat

December 22 2011

China-based auto specialist Sinotrust has developed a system to identify a speaker on the basis of the specific characteristics of their voice, which it is integrating into its customer satisfaction studies.

Sound familiar?Sinotrust collects, analyzes and manages information about markets, consumers and businesses for both research/consulting and database marketing purposes. Partly owned by data giant Experian, it employs more than 600 people at its offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

During the development of its new 'Voiceprint Recognition System', the firm applied a number of technologies to identify an individual such as fingerprint, hand shape, iris and voiceprint. The latter identifies a speaker's identity on the basis of the waveform of their voice, which can also give clues to their physiological and behavioral characteristics.

The system records and saves a customer's voice beforehand, and then generates a model by extracting related voiceprint characteristics. When a previous customer's identity needs to be confirmed, the firm can compare their new 'sound file' with the voiceprint model recorded in the database to confirm their identity.

Sinotrust says it hopes its new system will help automakers obtain 'authentic and reliable' research results gained from dealer service satisfaction research projects.
