TNS Wins Qual Eurobarometer for another Four Years

March 18 2013

TNS will run the Eurobarometer Qualitative studies for the EC and European Parliament for another four years. 'Believed to be the world's largest qualitative research programme', the EUR 18m win saw TNS beat competition from Ipsos, GfK and Gallup.

Leendert de VoogdThe studies, which measure public opinion over EC policies and actions and evaluate the impact of its communications, will continue to be run by the WPP firm's Political & Social practice. They include focus group discussions, in-depth interviews with the general public and target groups, plus consultancy work, and cover 35 countries and territories (one more than four years ago), including all EU member states and others such as the USA. The contract value is up around EUR 3m from the previous round, awarded in 2008. In April the following year the company went on to win the four-year EUR 65m [quant] Eurobarometer contract, and two years later it added the Flash Eurobarometer contract, worth up to EUR 60m.

Leendert de Voogd, Global Head of TNS Political & Social, said today the firm was delighted to have won the qual contract for another four years, commenting: 'This is a great testimony to the quality of TNS's work, and our strong track record in conducting sophisticated qualitative market research on a global scale. We look forward to continuing to build on our strong partnership with the European Commission and the European Parliament...' Judith Passingham, CEO of TNS Northern Europe, says the award reflects the group's investment in the evolution and development of its Global Qualitative practice under the leadership of Rebecca Wynberg.

TNS, which has worked for the European Institutions since 1974 when it first won the contract for the quant Eurobarometer studies, is online at www.tnsglobal.com .
