MMR Research Hires for US, China and UK

Food, drink and consumer goods specialist MMR Research Worldwide has appointed eight new members of staff, including Mario da Cruz as Head of MMR USA in New York and Andrew Kuiler as Managing Director of MMR China in Shanghai.

Mario da Cruz and Andrew KuilerAs well as its offices in the US and Singapore, MMR operates from its headquarters in the UK and office in China, from where it provides clients in the food, drink and personal care sectors with sensory research, product testing, NPD and emotion-based research.

da Cruz joins after more than five years at consumer opinion research company J.Reckner, where he was head of the firm's full-service business unit and led its Institute for Sensory Research. Prior to this, he spent 21 years at TNS in a number of roles, including Leader of Business Insights for the firm's largest client, and Head of the Advanced Methods Group.

Kuiler most recently worked at Ipsos China (previously Synovate) as Executive Director, Regional Strategic Accounts and Team Head (Innovation & Forecasting). Before this, he worked at Nielsen as VP, US East Coast Region Manager; at GfK Custom Research North America as VP, New Business Client Services; as an Account Director at MarketTools; and as Senior Research Manager at NFO World Group.

He is joined in Shanghai by Research Manager Anna Jin, who previously worked for General Mills USA, and by Senior Research Executive Alexandra Zhen, who has more than eight years' experience gained at both international and boutique agencies.

In the UK, Tom Coombes takes up the post of Associate Director in MMR's London office, with a background that includes working at TNS and Hall & Partners.

The firm has also appointed three trainee research executives: Caroline Withers who recently completed a PhD in Sensory Science at the University of Reading; Nikki Mooney who takes up her role having joined MMR last year as the Client Service Team Assistant, after graduating from the University of Swansea with a BSc Business with Marketing; and Herbert Chan who joins with a PhD in Nutrition and Food Science.
