In the US, retail data giant IRI has bought FreshLook Marketing Group, which supplies market research, information, and consulting services to the fresh food industry. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2000 by former IRI exec Mark Degner, FreshLook provides scanner-based information on the sales of perishable products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, deli cheese and meats, deli prepared foods, seafood, in-store bakery items and bulk foods.
Through the acquisition, IRI will offer clients integrated fresh/random weight and packaged/fixed weight tracking information and services.
Andrew Appel, President and CEO of IRI, comments: 'The FreshLook acquisition enables IRI to further improve its market leadership in providing the total view of the store which manufacturers and retailers want, integrate the two sets of information more efficiently and provide shopper marketing, analytics and consulting services that impact the whole store.'
