App Annie Rolls Out eBook Analytics Tool

App store analytics firm App Annie has extended its offer to the book publishing sector, through the introduction of a service which enables authors and publishers to track and analyze their eBook sales and trends across the market.

App Annie, which has offices in Beijing, Paris, San Francisco, Tokyo and Hong Kong, provides app ranking data and mobile analytics - app store download, sales and other data for iOS & Android. Last month, the firm raised $15m in Series C funding, which it is using to increase its sales and marketing team in San Francisco, expand across Asia and Europe, and accelerate its product development program.

The firm's new 'App Annie for eBooks' tool provides publishers, authors, agents and marketers with a dashboard for tracking their own eBook sales and downloads, ratings, reviews and rankings, and for researching information on market trends worldwide. It also features a 'store stats' module, offering access to a database of more than one million ranked eBooks, through which users can examine the eBook marketplace by geography, category and time.

CEO Bertrand Schmitt comments: 'There are a lot of similarities between the eBooks and mobile apps market - from projected growth to methods of purchase and consumption, to the need for business intelligence and platforms for analyzing the vast amounts of data we have access to. App or eBook, it's all digital content, and that's why we want to leverage our existing infrastructure to take the hassle out of managing and analyzing the complicated data publishers and authors are getting every day.'

App Annie for eBooks is currently available for the Amazon Kindle and iBooks stores, and the firm plans to extend the tool to more stores in the future.
