Former OECD Ambassador Joins Nielsen

Former OECD Ambassador Karen Kornbluh has joined Nielsen as Executive Vice President of External Affairs, leading the firm's government and public affairs services, and overseeing privacy strategy, corporate social responsibility and multicultural market development.

Most recently, Kornbluh (pictured) served as the US Ambassador to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where she worked with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to develop the first global Internet Policymaking Principles. Prior to this, she was Policy Director in the office of the then-Senator Barack Obama, and under the Clinton administration she was Deputy Chief of Staff at the Treasury Department. Earlier in her career, she was a management consultant at Telesis, and an economic forecaster at Townsend-Greenspan.

In her new Washington DC-based role, Kombluh reports to incoming CEO Mitch Barns, who succeeds David Calhoun on January 1, 2014. She will assume a number of duties managed by outgoing Vice Chair Susan Whiting who is retiring at the end of 2013 after more than three decades with the company.
