March 19 2014

UK-based independent agency firefish has announced an annual revenue increase of 18%, to £9.55m in its full financial year 2014.

A fire... and a fishThe group includes quantitative division TheNumbersLab, launched in 2012, family, kids and teens specialist The Pineapple Lounge, and sister company Firefilms, specialists in using film and technology as part of the research process. Its original, qualitative department was founded in 2000.

Yesterday, the company announced the appointments of former TLE exec Dee Campbell as Research Manager in its New York office, and Yimen Lee joins (AD) and Heather Williams (Research Manager) in London.

The firm's Amsterdam office showed the biggest gains for the year, with revenue up 141% at £625,000 reflecting both major clients in the Netherlands and winning multiple, strategic pan-European projects. The US office, in New York, was only opened in July 2013 but posted 'a very positive revenue figure' for its first 7 months according to the Group.

firefish NL Managing Director Kees van Duyn says of the results: 'Our success in difficult economic times demonstrates that we are bringing something to the local industry that must've been missing... Now, international companies based in the Netherlands, such as Douwe Egberts and Unilever, no longer have to look abroad for this type of strategic work. To facilitate further local and international expansion we are looking to expand the team further in the near future.'

Group CEO Jem Fawcus comments: 'we are delighted with the posted figures from across the Group - it's been an excellent year for us.'
