IRI Launches On-Premise POS Tracking Service

August 27 2015

In the US, retail and healthcare data giant IRI has launched a point-of-sale (POS) tracking service for the 'on-premise' marketplace, which includes outlets where food and drink are consumed such as bars and restaurants.

IRI Launches On-Premise POS Tracking ServiceCreated in partnership with POS data specialist GuestMetrics the new 'IRI On-Premise Advantage' service has been developed to enable CPG manufacturers to access data on consumer purchases made on-premise. GuestMetrics gathers POS data, cleanses and aligns it to standard reporting periods, and maps the data to uniform product descriptions. IRI then integrates the data with existing off-premise purchase information, and uses its proprietary projection methodology to create total US, state and market projected data for dining locations, as well as bars and nightclubs.

GuestMetrics' products were previously based on its 'same-store' sample of locations, but founder and President Brian Barrett syas integrating with IRI's proprietary technology means the numbers now represent sales and volumes across the c.320,000 full-service restaurants and bars in the US.

Piyush Chaudhari, IRI's President of the Americas and Global Strategy, adds: 'The expansion of our solutions to include on-premise data supports CPG manufacturers and suppliers to the food service industry with the strategic insight and tactical knowledge to allocate resources in a way that optimizes ROI'.
