Nielsen Launches 'Homescan Consumer Moments'

In the US, Nielsen has launched a service called 'Homescan Consumer Moments', which uses mobile app technology to research consumers' eating and drinking habits.

Nielsen Launches 'Homescan Consumer Moments'The service, which will link to Nielsen's Homescan Panel purchase behavior data, has been created in partnership with crowd-sourced in-store data specialist Mobee. It uses a mobile 'product diary' to capture consumer habits and product usage and consumption behavior in real-time; and for marketers, resulting data will be available through a visual, interactive digital dashboard.

Janice Linnane, VP of Product Leadership at Nielsen, comments: 'With the ability to capture data on-the-go, anywhere and anytime, Nielsen Homescan Consumer Moments will be able to deliver insights beyond purchase data to help identify distinct consumption habits down to occasions, meal times and more. Because panelists use the app in the moment, clients will have the ability to see actual behavior as opposed to recalled experiences, and insights come to life through user-submitted photographs to show exactly what they are describing'.
