In the US, retail industry information and intelligence resource EnsembleIQ has hired former Kantar / IRI exec David Shanker as Chief Executive Officer, replacing Peter Hoyt, who retired from the business last August.
Headquartered in Chicago, EnsembleIQ was formed following the merger of Stagnito Business Information and Edgell Communications. The firm offers a wide range of qual and quant research solutions to help clients understand who their customers are, and develop appropriate branding, messaging, product and pricing strategies. It also offers a tool using demographics, engagement and behavioral data to segment audiences in real time; and a predictive purchase intent modeling approach which taps its data to identify audience members in a purchase intent cycle. EnsembleIQ is also parent company of The Path to Purchase Institute (founded by Hoyt in 1988), as well as several trade events and providers of custom research solutions.
Shanker (pictured) joins with more than 30 years' MR industry leadership experience. He previously worked at WPP-owned digital data collection specialist Lightspeed as CEO Americas. Before this, he was CEO of NYC-based digital MR provider PINCHme, Global President of Ipsos Observer, COO of OTX Research (later acquired by Ipsos), and President of Client Solutions at IRI, where he worked for nearly a decade.
In his new role, Shanker will work out of EnsembleIQ's Newark, NJ, office. Commenting on the appointment, Executive Chairman Alan Glass said: 'David's resume is a perfect match for EIQ's ambitions, having led $150m businesses, an organization that's spread across as many as 25 countries, and companies that serve diverse retail and CPG customer bases. In addition, he helped expand all of these businesses through organic growth or acquisition - two other qualities we also highly regard'.
