$100m for Video Software and Data Firm JW Player

Video software and insights platform JW Player has raised $100m in Series E funding from tech and healthcare private equity firm LLR Partners; and says it will accelerate product innovation, expand its global footprint, and continue building its team.

JW began in 2008 as an open-source video player, and says that 'Each month 1 billion viewers, or one third of all people on the Internet', consume video on its technology across 2.7 billion devices. he company is headquartered in New York, with offices in London and Eindhoven, while its recent acquisition of video steaming and Digital Rights Management (DRM) solutions provider VUALTO has boosted sales in the LATAM and APAC regions. The player now incorporates proprietary data-driven services and data to help users grow and engage their audiences.
