Contentsquare Buys Product Experience Firm Hotjar

September 2 2021

Digital experience analyst Contentsquare has acquired product experience insights provider Hotjar for an undisclosed sum.

David DarmaninHotjar's product experience insights software combines quant and qual data to drive product decisions. Together, the two firms say they will help businesses understand people's behavior online, enabling them to deliver the best possible experience, fix obstacles along the customer journey and improve engagement. With a combined team of more 1,000 people, the firms provide insights to close to one million web sites in more than 180 countries, analyzing trillions of web and mobile app and micro-gestures on sites that process billions of dollars in transactions daily.

Hotjar founder David Darmanin (pictured) says joining Contentsquare will enable the business to double down on its investments in innovation. Jonathan Cherki, CEO and founder of Contentsquare, adds: 'People today expect great digital experiences whenever they are connected - whether they are interacting with big global brands or start-ups and growing businesses. Coming together with Hotjar allows us to broaden our reach to bring business-critical insights to every type of business across all industries'.

In May, Contentsquare raised half a billion dollars in a Series E round of funding, valuing the company at $2.8 billion. Then in July it acquired AI company Upstride, which specializes in improving machine learning performance.
