Contentsquare Buys AI Company Upstride

July 13 2021

US-based user experience analytics platform Contentsquare has acquired AI company Upstride, which specializes in improving machine learning performance. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jonathan CherkiUpstride's APIs have been developed to reduce the amount of data needed to train AI models in computer vision applications, and then deploy them. The firm's proprietary technology relies on the use of 'Hycor', a new data type tailored for deep learning.

Contentsquare currently has 250 people working in R&D in Lyon, Paris, Rennes, Tel Aviv and its newly opened Barcelona hub. With the acquisition, Upstride's engineers will join Contentsquare's Data Science development team in the Paris product hub, and Upstride CEO Gary Roth will join the company's operations team. Following its recent $500m Series E round of funding, Contentsquare has announced it will be hiring for 500 new product development positions over the next three years, with a special focus on intent-based optimization, cookieless and predictive capabilities, merchandising insights and content performance.

Jonathan Cherki (pictured), CEO and founder of Contentsquare, comments: 'Data is the life force of our solution, and Upstride is home to some of the most creative and innovative minds in the tech industry. We are very pleased to welcome Upstride into the Contentsquare family and to start pushing new AI boundaries together'.
