NielsenIQ Invests in Fetch Rewards for Panel Expansion

April 19 2022

Consumer intel giant NielsenIQ has made an undisclosed amount of investment in mobile consumer rewards app Fetch Rewards, whose thirteen million monthly US active users have submitted more than two billion receipts. The deal allows NielsenIQ to enhance its Omnishopper panel.

Natalie WilliamsFormerly known as Nielsen Global Connect, NielsenIQ analyzes global consumer behavior globally, and says that today 85% of CPG dollar sales come from omnichannel consumers who shop across both brick-and-mortar and online channels.

With the investment in Fetch Rewards - part of a round in which the latter has raised $240m in equity and debt - NielsenIQ is expanding the sample size of its existing Omnishopperpanel, with data from Fetch app users who are incentivized to submit every receipt (both paper and digital), from every purchase - grocery, retail, restaurant and online. The deal helps NielsenIQ to further enhance its consumer insights across geographies, demographics, brands and retailers, and track shopper behavior online and off-line across products and categories. The firm says that with longitudinal omnishopper data curated from Fetch Rewards' user base, the panel will have an 'unmatched ability to provide the most holistic, long-term view into consumer behavior'.

NielsenIQ SVP Product Leadership Natalie Williams (pictured) comments: 'In order to continue to evolve and meet the needs of consumers, having a deep understanding of your shoppers' behavior is critical... The unprecedented scale of NielsenIQ's Omnishopper panel will allow clients to unlock their full potential with the ability to measure, predict and activate on the most analytically rich data possible'.
