Angus Porter to Lead Added Value

September 12 2005

Senior UK marketer Angus Porter today becomes Global CEO of the Added Value Group, WPP's marketing insight agency. Porter, who oversaw the rebrand of bank Abbey and has also worked for BT and Mars, will report to Eric Salama, Kantar's Chairman. He replaces Tamara Ingram, now CEO of ad agency Grey.

Porter was recently named second 'most admired person' in a Marketing Week Poll. He joined Abbey as Customer Propositions Director in 2003 after four years at BT, where he worked as Consumer Marketing Director followed by a promotion to MD of the Consumer Division. Before this, he spent 15 years at Mars, where he was Head of Marketing, and managed the rebranding of Opal Fruits to Starburst.

In his new role, Porter will assume global responsibilities for the Added Value Group, which was formed last year by the merger of Icon Brand Navigation, Diagnostic Research and Added Value. The Group has offices on four continents in locations including the UK, USA, Australia, Japan, China, South Africa, France, Greece, Spain and Germany.

Salama describes Porter as 'a first class businessman and a shrewd, incisive marketer', stating that he 'understands how clients buy brand and marketing advice,' and 'has the intellect, strategic skills and credentials to run a global business'.

The company's web site is at www.added-value.com.
