Ciao Opens Netherlands Portal

Ciao, the European subsidiary of online survey specialist Greenfield Online, has launched a new comparison shopping portal in the Netherlands. As well as comparing prices and offering consumer product reviews, the portal encourages visitors to take part in surveys.

The new service, which complements existing portals in Germany, the UK, France, Spain and Italy, features half a million products including computers, cars, finance, electronics and travel. Consumers are encouraged to submit product reviews to help build up a database of opinions.

Earlier this year, Ciao opened a commercial office in Amsterdam to meet client demand for its online marketing research panel, which has grown to 75,000 double-opted-in respondents.

Gunnar Piening, SVP European and Asian Sales & Operations at Greenfield/Ciao, says the new office has enabled the company to expand its client base. 'After only six months we have established Greenfield/Ciao as a premier supplier for market researchers in the Benelux area.'

New President and CEO of Greenfield Online Albert Angrisani says the company 'plans to continue to expand our European market opportunities under the Ciao brand.' He describes the launch of the new portal as 'one more step along that path'.
