Synovate Restructures and Promotes in Asia

July 18 2007

Synovate is restructuring its Asian business with future growth in mind. To support the changes, in August the firm will be making a number of senior promotions in China, North Asia, South Asia and Korea.

Part of the company's 'From Now to Wow' initiative (www.mrweb.com/drno/news5815.htm ) and billed as an attempt to better align the company with its clients' needs, the new organisational structure will comprise three smaller business groups in China, North Asia and South Asia.

Synovate Global CEO Adrian Chedore said that the restructure will build on the business Synovate has established in Asia and help drive further growth. He comments: 'The opportunities for growth in Asia remain enormous and the new structure will further sharpen Synovate's focus on this part of the world'.

Synovate China will be headed by Managing Director Darryl Andrew who has been promoted to CEO based in Shanghai. With a 21-year market research background, Andrew previously worked in New Zealand, the UK and Hong Kong, and assumed responsibility for Synovate's mainland China business in 2003.

Jill Telford has been promoted to CEO of Synovate North Asia, which comprises Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan. Telford has been Managing Director of Synovate Hong Kong for the past seven years and has more than twenty years' market research experience gained in the UK, Japan and Hong Kong.

KyungEun Chang steps in to Telford's shoes, having previously worked as a Director in Korea. She joined the firm in 2000 to head up the Korean Healthcare research division and has 16 years' MR experience.

Telford acknowledged the contribution Chang has made to the business, saying: 'As Managing Director, her leadership and research expertise will be an ongoing asset to staff and Synovate clients alike.'

Tim Balbirnie will become CEO of Synovate South Asia, which includes India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Prior to joining Asia Market Intelligence (now re-branded Synovate), he worked for MRB Group in London and Frank Small and Associates in Hong Kong.

Synovate is the market research arm of Aegis Group and employs more than 5,700 staff in 118 cities across 52 countries - with more than a third of the company's staff based in Asia. The firm's home page is www.synovate.com.
