Observant Expands Pharma Team

In the US, pharma research specialist Observant LLC has expanded its senior management team with the appointment of Dr John Hartman as Vice President and Dr Jennifer Potter as Director.

Social scientist and statistician Hartman was previously Executive Director of Advanced Analytics at healthcare MR firm BioVid. Prior to this, he held senior positions with Mattson Jack, TNS Healthcare, Aetna and Young & Rubicam. In the past, he has also been Professor of Sociology at Columbia University and a core member of both the School of International and Public Affairs and Columbia college.

Clinical psychologist Potter joins from Harvard Medical School, where her clinical research specialties included pain, substance use disorders, and the design and conduct of clinical trials. She has been a market research consultant for a number of years, managing studies across a wide range of therapeutic categories. Commenting on her new role, Potter said: 'While gauging a doctor's or patient's enthusiasm for a product is a good first step, applying psychological principles of behaviour change to market research enhances our clients' ability to influence product uptake.'

Last year, Observant launched a qual software tool called Questrill to help pharma and biotech firms cope with the need for rapid and complex analysis (www.mrweb.com/drno/news6670.htm ).
