TNS Compete Unveils Smartphone Service

November 21 2008

In the US, web analytics unit TNS Compete has launched a service to deliver behavioural and survey-based insights on iPhone and other smartphone users.

The new Smartphone Intelligence Survey combines consumer insights (through surveys) with behavioral data (through online click stream data) to reveal how smartphone owners are using their phones, the sites they visit on the web and what they like and dislike about their phone and Internet experiences.

It also enables clients to use custom research to address specific business questions relevant to segments of smartphone owners.

'Not only are iPhone users downloading more applications, but owners of these devices are also more receptive to ads,' stated Ryan Burke, MD of Telecommunications and Media. 'This is something that marketers, carriers and OEMs should consider when devising their strategies.'

Subscribers will receive quarterly reports with fresh data about smartphone use and behavior, as well as actionable recommendations tailored to their business.

Founded in 2000, Compete, a unit of TNS media, examines the online behavior of millions of consumers to help clients create effective online experiences and highly profitable advertising campaigns. Earlier this month, it launched a Retail and Consumer Products practice to provide retailers with insights into shoppers' online activities across rival sites, portals, search engines and aggregators.

The Boston-headquartered agency, now part of Kantar, is online at www.competeinc.com .
