Funding Secured for New British Business Survey

October 23 2002

Ipsos-RSL has this week announced that funding for the new British Business Survey (BBS) has been secured, and work has begun on the new study. BBS measures the reading habits, media consumption and business behaviour of middle and senior managers in Britain.

The survey will be guaranteed by five major publishing groups - The Economist Newspaper, Financial Times Ltd, The Guardian Media Group, the Telegraph Group and Times Newspapers - in addition to the research contractor Ipsos-RSL.

BBS is one of the most comprehensive media surveys in the UK, and provides insight and analysis for advertising agencies, advertisers, media planners and buyers and media owners. Covering a universe of approximately 1.4 million business people, it is the only media survey to focus on the buying power and media exposure of the Britain's most influential business people. BBS business people earn almost £70 billion a year, and are in charge of expenditure budgets in excess of £750 billion in total.

Roger Gane, Managing Director of Ipsos-RSL commented 'We are delighted to be once again running this prestigious project. BBS has a long and distinguished history and has been well supported by the media industry. We are pleased to have been able to improve and design a survey that is still highly relevant to business in 2003 and beyond.'

The results will be released in September 2003, with fieldwork taking place in the early part of next year. Media owners and advertising agencies will be invited to sponsor the survey.
