December 11 2014

John SedlakIn New York, location analytics firm PlaceIQ has appointed former BlueKai exec John Sedlak as Chief Revenue Officer.

PlaceIQ gathers geolocation data from social media networks, tweets and ‘check-ins’ to cell phones, along with retail information and local events. Sentiment analysis and other techniques are then used to create profiles of the type of people who are likely to be in specific places at specific times, and this data is used by advertisers to target mobile users with relevant ads based on where they are.

Sedlak (pictured) joins with more than two decades’ experience working with global tech and media companies, including Oracle, AOL and Time Warner, as well as at data audience targeting platform Bluekai, which was sold to Oracle earlier this year.

In his new role, he is tasked with driving the company’s overall revenue strategy and accelerating adoption of its technology across a variety of industry sectors. He will report to co-founder and CEO Duncan McCall, who comments: ‘We are building a new model for consumer behavior based upon an analysis of a huge and complex data set across the physical and digital worlds. As a proven CRO with experience delivering new enterprise data solutions into the marketing ecosystem, John's addition aligns with that vision.’
