In the UK, the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (BARB) has appointed former ITV exec Jessica Bromley as Communications Manager, responsible for raising BARB’s profile, and communicating how the organisation is continuing to develop its services.
BARB (provides official viewing figures for UK television audiences, and is funded by the BBC, ITV, Channels 4 and 5, the IPA, Sky and UKTV. Data is collected by Ipsos MORI, Kantar Media and RSMB, via a panel of 5,100 homes, to represent 26.6m UK households. Earlier this year, the organisation
awarded the contract for its cross-screen measurement initiative – Dovetail Fusion – to Kantar Media. Dovetail Fusion will offer customers a measure of the total reach of programmes and ad campaigns across TV sets, personal computers and tablets.
Bromley (pictured) joins with a decade of corporate communications experience in the media industry. Most recently, she handled corporate communications for ITV Studio’s global production and distribution network, where she regularly used BARB data. Earlier, she worked for media clients at Franklin Rae Communications, and she was a member of the press team at kids’ cable and satellite TV network Nickelodeon.
In her new role, Bromley will also communicate the 2018 launch of the
Project Dovetail initiative, which will fuse BARB’s panel data with online TV viewing census data. She will report to CEO
Justin Sampson, who comments: ‘No industry currency can stand still in an age of fragmentation and BARB is now bringing to life our cross-platform viewing figures. Jessica’s knowledge of the broadcast industry and first-hand experience of working with our data is invaluable to BARB as we continue this process.’
