M.E.L Research

July 11 2023

Tyler McKenzieIn Birmingham, UK, social research specialist M.E.L Research has appointed Tyler McKenzie as a Market Research Apprentice.

M.E.L measures and evaluates citizen views and opinions to understand how well a client, project or service is performing. The firm offers a full range of research methods, quant and qual, and donates 5% of its net profits to charity. M.E.L Waste Insights, a sister company focusing on analysis and advice around municipal waste and resources, was sold off last year.

McKenzie (pictured) joins as part of the Market Research Society (MRS) Apprenticeship Scheme, which provides an opportunity for individuals aged 18 years and older, including recent school leavers, or for those seeking to upskill within the research industry, such as interviewers. She previously spent nearly a year as a Marketing Assistant at kitchen design and supply business Qudaus Living, and was an Activity Coordinator at after-school clubs specialist Next Thing Education.

As an apprentice, McKenzie will gain experience of collecting, analysing and interpreting data using a wide range of qual and quant techniques, as well as digital and non-digital tools. She is already involved in a range of research projects, and is working with Kirsty Marshall, Associate Director, as part of a structured internal programme, as well as with Swarm Training CIC, which supports the external elements of the MRS' Apprenticeship Standard.

MD Karen Etheridge comments: 'As a socially responsible research agency, we firmly believe in creating positive change through our work, our methods, and our partnerships. Apprenticeships are an important part in the wider recruitment puzzle and in encouraging individuals like Tyler to launch successful careers in the research sector. She has made an immediate impact in her role and brings an energy and dynamism which is incredibly valuable'.
