New Leader for WPP's ANZ Public Sector Hub

Kathryn Cooper has left her role as Executive Director of WPP's Government & Public Sector practice in Australia, to return to the US. She has been replaced by Michael Harris, former Client Lead at WPP's content division Wavemaker.

Launched in 2014, the Government & Public Sector practice provides a range of services such as communications for development, public policy and services; public sector recruitment; country branding and tourism, trade and investment marketing; and consulting on digital government. It also serves as a single point of access to the group's combined resources and multidisciplinary teams of agencies, and partners with academics and innovators on research and development initiatives.

Cooper joined when the ANZ hub opened in 2015, after holding senior roles at Y&R, The Campaign Palace, Draftfcb, Deutsch, and Ingalls Advertising. Harris (pictured) will now lead the practice, having previously served as MD of WPP agency Maxus Global, prior to its merger with sister agency MEC in 2017 to become Wavemaker. Earlier, he was Communications Director at Publicis-owned Starcom Mediavest Group and Group Business Director at WPP's Mediacom.

In his new role, Harris will continue to draw on WPP specialist agencies to build bespoke, horizontal teams for federal, state and local governments.
