IAB Europe Creates Chief Economist Role

The Interactive Advertising Bureau Europe (IAB Europe) has appointed Daniel Knapp as its first Chief Economist, to strengthen the market analysis and economic research offering for its corporate members and network of National IABs.

Daniel KnappKnapp (pictured) joins with more than fifteen years' international experience in advertising research and forecasting. For the past more than seven years he worked at London-based information and analytics firm IHS Markit; initially as Head of Advertising Intelligence, and more recently as Executive Director - Technology, Media, Telecoms. Prior to this, he was a Senior Analyst at media market business research company Screen Digest (acquired by IHS in 2010), with a focus on the advertising sector. His research areas span all domains of digital advertising.

In his new role, Knapp will be responsible for developing and managing a network of academics who will scrutinise IAB Europe's industry research and thought leadership programmes, and will support the Business Programmes team and the Research Committee with their annual benchmarking and pan-European studies and surveys. CEO Townsend Feehan comments: 'We want to collaborate with the smartest minds in Europe to be the most relevant information source for our members and stakeholders. After seeing Daniel's outstanding contribution to research, it's great to have him as a permanent part of the team, to truly augment our offerings to the digital advertising landscape'.

Alongside his IAB role, Knapp will continue building a new company offering data science solutions for digital advertising and media.
