EFAMRO Appoints New President

The European Research Federation (EFAMRO) has appointed Bernd Wachter, CEO of German MR agency Psyma, as its new President. He takes over from Andrew Cannon, Executive Director of Global Research Business Network (GRBN), who has completed seven years in the EFAMRO role.

EFAMRO is a European federation of market, social and opinion research agency trade associations, which seeks to influence legislation and public opinion in favour of research, while promoting best practice and enforcing compliance with the principles of international standards. Cannon was named President in 2012, and is now replaced by Wachter (pictured), who has been CEO of Psyma for the past seven years. He joined Psyma in 1993, and has since served as its CFO, and Vice Chairman and MD of Consumer Market Research. In addition, Wachter is the Chairman of business association ADM Arbeitskreis Deutscher Markt- und Sozialforschungsinstitute, and he has been a member of the EFAMRO executive Board since last September.

Cannon comments: 'I am proud to have served as EFAMRO President. During my time as President, I have had the honour of working with many professional association leaders, as well as Jan Oostveen, EFAMRO's Director General, who all share a passion for the future success of the European research industry. I leave EFAMRO in the capable hands of Bernd as the new President and look forward to further broadening the co-operation between EFAMRO and GRBN'.
