Senior Appointments at Nielsen

February 28 2020

Nielsen Holdings plc has appointed Sean Cohan as Chief Growth Officer and President, International; and promoted Peter Bradbury to Chief Commercial Officer, U.S. and Karthik Rao to COO of its Media division.

Sean CohanCohan (pictured) brings twenty-five years of business experience including fifteen at A+E Networks, latterly as President, International and Digital Media (U.S. and Iinternational). In this role he oversaw rapid growth in both divisions, supervising brands, services and content outside the US and spanning 200+ countries; and managed US domestic digital activities and services. Most recently he worked as a senior leader at content, marketing and venture company Wheelhouse Group. In his new role, he will oversee growth strategy, partnerships, corporate and business development, and all Nielsen international businesses including Gracenote Metadata, Nielsen Sports and outcomes offerings.

Bradbury has spent the past 24 years at Nielsen, and was previously EVP and MD of the U.S. Media Sellers Group, leading commercial efforts across national television, radio, digital, local TV and social media, and with responsibility for Gracenote Metadata, Nielsen Sports and gaming. His new role adds to this with responsibility for advertiser and media agency teams as well as media analytics.

Rao is promoted from Chief Product, Technology & Operations Officer for Global Media. He has spent twenty years at Nielsen, including long spells in Asia-Pacific and the US. He has served as CEO of the Gracenote business and as Managing Director of Nielsen's Greater China region. He is now responsible for driving a global product-driven technology transformation, with a remit including product, operations, data science and technology.

CEO David Kenny says the appointments 'illustrate the commitment we have to building out a rigorous and forward-looking business dedicated to one media truth and the belief that a transparent, unified independent view of the total audience will help the entire ecosystem succeed and thrive in this evolving landscape'. He adds: 'These appointments set us up well for the future'.
