Facebook Names Analytics Specialist as CMO

October 1 2020

Facebook has promoted data analyst Alex Schultz to the role of Chief Marketing Officer, replacing Antonio Lucio who stepped down last month.

Alex SchultzSchultz (pictured) joined Facebook nearly thirteen years ago, and most recently served as VP of Marketing, Analytics (data science and engineering) and Internationalization. Earlier, he spent more than three years at eBay, initially in the UK working on affiliate marketing, and latterly leading global targeting for eBay onsite merchandising.

In his new role as CMO, Schultz will still oversee product growth, analytics and internalization, while continuing to report to Javier Olivan, VP of Growth.

Schultz commented in a Facebook post: 'I hope to build on this and bring my experience in segmentation, targeting, and measurement to bear as we work to reach people more meaningfully through our product. I also hope to deepen the strategic impact that Antonio made in focusing on building trust and value across our portfolio of brands. I believe social media is a force for good in the world and am proud of the work we're doing to make it even more so'.
