CoStar Names Chief Economist & Market Analytics Head

In Toronto, commercial real estate information provider CoStar Group has appointed Carl Gomez as Chief Economist and Head of Market Analytics Canada.

Founded in 1987, CoStar enables clients to analyze, interpret and gain insight on commercial property values, market conditions and current availabilities. Last year, the company acquired STR, which provides benchmarking and analytics for the hospitality industry.

Gomez (pictured) joins with a twenty-year background in business economics, specializing in private equity real estate. Most recently, he served as SVP at QuadReal Property Group, where he was responsible for leading market analysis, and setting up the structure and systems of the company's research group. Prior to this he held various leadership positions, from SVP and Chief Economist at real estate investment advisor Bentall Kennedy, to Senior Economist at TD Bank Financial Group and at Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation.

In his new role, Gomez will lead market analytics for Canada, helping accelerate the brand's growth across the region, and building a team of senior-level talent.
