Semasio Appoints Data Science Lead

Contextual ad targeting company Semasio has appointed Miguel Araujo in the new role of Director of Data Science, responsible for leading the data science department from R&D to finished product.

Semasio promises clients 'complete control, transparency and ownership' of their targeting, analysing the terms pages contain and which users consume on them. As a result users can seamlessly target both users and pages.

Araujo joins from risk management firm Feedzai, where as Data Science Manager he led data science and engineering teams and driving the omnichannel and data sharing strategy.

Araujo holds an MSc in Informatics from the University of Porto and a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, and his work has included the development of solutions for anomaly detection, pattern mining and predictive solutions. He has one patent granted and five applications currently pending.

He reports to Kasper Skou, CEO and co-founder, who comments: 'We are fortunate to bring on a leader with Miguel's depth and breadth of experience and knowledge in the ever-evolving world of data science, especially as we move into the next chapter of data-driven targeting. With his strong industry background and academic expertise, Miguel will help accelerate our data science development process from R&D to finished product'.
