Insight Climate Collective Names Steering Committee

The Insight Climate Collective (ICC), a group calling on the industry to come together and play its part in tackling the environmental crisis, has appointed a Steering Committee to help put its strategy into action.

The group was launched last November, and founders Nick Baker (Savanta), Jem Fawcus (Firefish Group), Denise Hicks (C Space), Louise McLaren (Truth Consulting) and Russ Wilson (Amazon) are planning a number of initiatives including developing an industry charter with the MRS, and providing a cross-agency resource to aggregate and 'benchmark' climate data. They also want the ICC to provide a forum for people to discuss ideas and launch activism, while offering training and education resources for agencies and clients.

To date, more than 300 industry professionals have joined the founders, who have now appointed the Steering Committee. The latter comprises Jonathan Hall Managing Partner, Sustainable Transformation Practice at Kantar; Jessica Long, Head of Sustainability, UK at Ipsos Green Economy; and Megan Moore, Head of Key Account Sales & Management at GfK UK & IE. Their first focus will be an inaugural report, Net Zero In Sight, in partnership with the MRS, and the report will not only present an Action Plan for Change, but also include a breakdown of the main industry emissions, compiled using data collected by the ICC.

Speaking on the organisation's behalf, Fawcus says: 'I am really pleased that these heavy hitters have agreed to join us, bringing both their expertise in climate and wider sustainability issues, and the involvement of some of the industry's biggest businesses. I hope to be able to announce some client-side partners soon; in the meantime, we are all working together to produce a foundational report on the industry, Net Zero In Sight, ready for launch on World Environment Day, 5th June'.
