July 15 2021

In the US, shopper intelligence specialist Catalina has appointed Sean Murphy as Chief Data & Analytics Officer. He replaces Wes Chaar, who has taken the same job title at compliance software and services firm Fyllo.

Sean MurphyCatalina has operations in the US, Costa Rica, Europe and Japan, and offers access to a real-time shopper database through which CPG brands, retailers and agencies can optimize every stage of the media planning, execution and measurement process. Murphy (pictured) joins from marketing solutions company Vericast - owner of shopper targeting firm Valassis - where he served as SVP Operations, led the Data Science, Marketing Science and Business Analytics teams, and launched a new Insight Consulting Team. Prior to this, he worked for hyperlocal intelligence firm MaxPoint, latterly as SVP, Analytics, and he held leadership roles at pricing intelligence provider Vendavo, Peoplesoft, and Ask Jeeves (now Ask.com).

In his new position, Murphy takes over from Chaar, and reports to President and CEO Wayne Powers, who comments: 'Sean believes that data is only useful if it is helping drive effective decisions, and his primary focus will be on partnering cross-functionally to leverage our unparalleled shopper intelligence to help our customers do just that'.
