NBCUniversal's Peacock Names Chief Data Officer

In New York, media and entertainment giant NBCUniversal has promoted Will Gonzalez to the role of EVP and Chief Data Officer of Direct-to-Consumer, responsible for the global data strategy of its video streaming service Peacock.

Comcast-subsidiary NBCUniversal owns and operates a portfolio of news and entertainment TV networks, a motion picture company, television production operations, a TV stations group, theme parks, and an ad-supported streaming service. As a member of Peacock's launch team, Gonzalez (pictured) served as SVP of Decision Sciences. He joined NBCUniversal in 2017 as SVP of Enterprise Business Intelligence, leading, managing and developing the Data Product Management team within the Enterprise Business Intelligence division. Earlier, he held various leadership roles in consumer data and marketing tech initiatives at Sony, having begun his career in digital product strategy at The New York Times.

In his new role, Gonzalez will continue growing a team of data scientists, data engineers, data governance and applied analytics professionals. He will also partner with Chief Data Officer John Lee to implement the company's enterprise-wide consumer identity and data strategy.

Gonzalez reports to Gidon Katz, President of Direct-to-Consumer, who comments: 'Will's incredible passion, charismatic leadership, and vast expertise were foundational to our success in launching and scaling Peacock in the US in its first year.
