UK Further Education Research Org Jisc Names New CEO

In the UK, digital education and research membership organisation Jisc has appointed Heidi Fraser-Krauss as Chief Executive Officer, replacing Paul Feldman, who is retiring after more than six years in the role.

Heidi Fraser-KraussJisc focuses on further education data and analysis, and its initiatives include the national learning analytics services, which pulls together data from an institution's various student data streams, organises it and translates it into visualisations. Fraser-Krauss (pictured) joins after a career which began as a researcher, studying how communication in teams supports innovation. For the past year, she has served as Executive Director of Corporate Services at the University of Sheffield, before which she was Deputy Registrar and Director of Corporate and Information Services at the University of York. Earlier she was Director of Business Improvements at the University of St Andrews, where she worked for more than eight years, introducing business intelligence and reporting as a service to the university, with a focus on improving data management.

Fraser-Krauss has also been a member of UCAS council, Chair of the Universities and College Information Systems Association (ucisa), and Chair of the Russell Universities Group IT Directors (RUGIT). She comments: 'I'm excited by the opportunity to lead Jisc in its next chapter as a world-leading provider of connectivity and technology for the post-16 education and research sector. The pandemic presented a unique opportunity to fast-track digital transformation in teaching, learning and research and my priority will be to ensure Jisc stays innovative to improve the digital experience of students, educators and researchers'.
