Judo Gets Funding as Seamus McAteer Joins as COO

November 22 2021

In Canada, mobile experience platform Judo has raised $3m in a seed funding round; and has brought in M:Metrics co-founder Seamus McAteer as Chief Operating Officer.

Seamus McAteerJudo's no code, server-driven user interface platform allows marketing teams to integrate native in-app content and deliver contextual user experiences at scale, without requiring app updates or developer resources. Experiences are added using server-driven UI, a technology whereby layout as well as content is stored and updated on the server. According to the firm, customers can save between 20 and 80 hours of development time building experiences using this platform.

McAteer (pictured), who has been an advisor to Judo since 2016, joins as COO after a career which has included co-founding mobile ad targeting Metaresolver; and audience measurement specialist M:Metrics, later sold to Comscore. He also founded user engagement analyst Datasnap.io and then sold it to consumer data firm Neustar, where he went on to serve as VP New Ventures. More recently, he co-built a measurement tool for streaming video called StreamMetrics, and sold it to real-time commerce firm Tradeswell.

Judo's new funding has been led by TenOneTen Ventures and Freestyle Capital. John Coombs, Judo CEO and founder, comments: 'The Judo team and I are delighted to welcome TenOneTen and Freestyle Capital as investors. As real operators they appreciated the challenges we had in scaling a tech platform business one customer at a time. Capital allows us to accelerate fulfilling our mission of making mobile app publishers more efficient and effective by enabling flexible deployment of new experiences'.
