New Streaming Measure and Japanese Office for Conviva

May 18 2022

Silicon Valley-based streaming insights firm Conviva has announced it will launch an audience measurement standard, in partnership with streaming providers using its real-time cloud 'sessionization' technology. It has also opened an office in Japan, to be led by Takeshi Torii.

Keith ZubchevichConviva provides insight into the consumer streaming experience across all screens and applications, at scale, through its Video AI Platform. The firm says the Platform supports more than 500 million unique viewers watching 200 billion streams per year across four billion applications. The new standard claims to provide census-level streaming audience ad packaging and measurement that is complimentary and interoperable with linear TV, allowing streaming providers to compete at scale with digital walled garden solutions.

CEO Keith Zubchevich (pictured) comments: 'Audience measurement represents the streaming industry's biggest opportunity and Conviva's technology definitively unlocks its potential. For Conviva's customers, streaming audience is continuously, census-level measured with comprehensive, standardized data. Having solved for this problem technically, we will now work in lock step with the industry to provide a unified streaming ad packaging and measurement solution fully interoperable with any cross-platform currency in market today'.

Conviva has also opened an office in Japan, where its new 'State of Streaming Report' reveals the market to be growing at pace. Torii joins to lead the office as Country Manager, bringing twenty years of experience from companies including Yahoo! Japan and a number of US firms with Japan operations. Zubchevich says 'Japan is one of the world's leading streaming markets and a strategic growth area for Conviva's continuous measurement technology. Under the leadership of Country Manager Takeshi Torii at the Japan office, we look forward to helping the market capitalize on the growth of streaming video'.

The report found that in Q4 of last year the total increase in the streamed minutes was +7% globally, just +0.2% in the United States, but +92% in Japan. Torii says the new office will be 'dedicated to improving streaming quality, maximizing viewer acquisition, and helping build a world class streaming market in Japan'.
