Coles Supermarkets Names First Chief Customer Officer

In Australia, supermarket retailer Coles is appointing Amanda McVay as its first Chief Customer Officer. She will join the company on 13 June.

Amanda McVayFounded in 1914, Coles Group now has more than 2,400 outlets across its portfolio of supermarkets, liquor and convenience stores, and processes more than 21 million customer transactions each week. McVay (pictured) will relocate from the US to take up her new role, after more than eleven years at grocery 'super store' retail chain Meijer, where she has most recently led the company's customer strategy, eCommerce, customer data, retail performance media, and marketing divisions, comprising a team of more than 300 employees. Prior to this, she spent nearly a decade at general merchandise retailer Target, where she latterly served as a Buyer in the healthcare, OTC department.

In her new position, she will report to Leah Weckert, Coles' new CEO, who took up the position at the beginning of this month. In an e-mail to staff, Weckert said: 'As Chief Customer Officer, Amanda will lead the development and execution of the marketing, brand and customer communication strategies that bring our Coles Group vision, purpose and strategy to life.'
