New CEO for The Young Foundation

December 1 2025

In the UK, The Young Foundation has named Dr Susan Griffiths as its next CEO, starting in March next year. Helen Goulden stepped down from the role in September after eight years, and COO Sean Croghan will continue as Interim CEO until Griffiths' arrival.

Sue GriffithsThe Foundation is focused on community research and social innovation, running projects which it says 'drive better prospects, a fair shift to a greener planet, and empowered places.'

Griffiths (pictured) joins from international development consultancy and research body Social Development Direct, which focuses on gender equality, disability, and social inclusion - she has been its MD since 2020. Earlier she worked as a Senior Clerk at the House of Commons; and as Executive Director at political development consultancy Global Partners Governance, of which she is now an NED.

Young Foundation Chair Kersten England says of the appointment: 'Sue brings a wealth of experience from her background leading international and UK based research and consultancy organisations focused on tackling inequalities and supporting institutions to drive societal change. The Young Foundation's Board of Trustees and all of its colleagues look forward to working with Sue to deliver our passion for the creation of a fairer society through the radical power of participation.'

Griffiths herself says she has long admired the organisation and will work with its team 'to communicate the organisation's distinct capabilities and accelerate our positive impact on the most crucial environmental, economic and social issues of our time.'
